Mary L. Atkinson,   Memphis, MO     1928 - 2014
Mary Lucille Atkinson, 85, of Memphis, MO passed away Friday morning,  September 12, 2014, at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis. The fourth of  eight children of Hobert and Edith (Henry) Purvis she was born October 15, 1928  at Jefferson, Iowa.
She graduated from high school at Wayland, Iowa and joined the church at an  early age.
She met her husband Clarence Atkinson on a Naval base in Texas and they made  their home in Jupiter, Florida.
She enjoyed oil painting and making porcelain dolls, as her husband poured  the molds for them.
Mary had several jobs of which included teaching classes for  a while in Florida and later she moved to Moline, Illinois in 1994 where she  enjoyed being a demonstrator for new products at Wal-Mart stores.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister along  with other relatives.
She is survived by a sister, Dorthy Franklin of Memphis, Missouri, one  brother Richard Purvis of Plano, Texas, several nieces and nephews and great  nieces and nephews.
As per her wishes cremation was accorded and no other services are planned.  Her cremains will be interred in the Bible Grove Christian Church Cemetery in  the family lot at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to the Scotland County Cancer Fund and can be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison St., Memphis, MO 63555.
