Loubelle R. Davis

Loubelle Rose (Drake) Davis passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 24, 2015 at the Scotland County Hospital in Memphis, MO after a lengthy illness.

The daughter of James Lewis Drake and Hazel Averil (Sleeth) Drake, she was born July 19, 1925 on the family farm north of Downing in Schuyler County, MO.

Loubelle graduated 8th grade from the Swanston School, a rural one room school house north of Downing.  She later married Lowell DeVere Davis on December 11, 1947 in Lancaster, MO.  They were married 45 years at the time of his death.  To this union, four children were born; Lyle, Bonnie, Lisa and Rita.

Loubelle enjoyed nature, her many flowers, gardening, playing the piano, quilting, knitting, crocheting, sewing, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She also enjoyed going to Sunday School and church since childhood until her health failed.  Loubelle was a member of the O. E. S. Kahoka Chapter #40 as well as a 4-H club leader for years while her children were members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Robert Drake in 1972; her husband, Lowell D. Davis in 1992; and a son-in-law, James C. Brotherton in 2007.

Loubelle is survived by her son: Lyle (Wanda) Davis of Kahoka, MO; three daughters: Bonnie Brotherton of Medill, MO; Lisa (Joe) Humes of Wyaconda, MO; and Rita (Chuck) Little of Lima, IL;  nine grandchildren: James Davis, Kahoka, MO; Melissa (Randy) Foss, San Diego, CA; Tammy Brotherton, Mt. Pleasant, IA; Wendy (Scott) Armstrong, New London, IA; Jessie (Steve) Brotherton, Argyle, WI; Christopher (Kelsey) Humes, Canton, MO; Andrew Humes, Wyaconda, MO; Charlie Little and Regan Little, Lima, IL and great-grandchildren: Austin Johnston, Rachal Johnston, Dugan Armstrong, Michaela Brotherton and expecting the arrival of Jayce Brotherton.  Also nephews: Darrell (Linda) Davis, Kahoka, MO; Dwight Finckbone & family, Lubbock, TX; and niece: Linda (Bill) Olivieri & family, Placentia, CA; along with numerous cousins.

Memorials in lieu of flowers are suggested to the O.E.S. Kahoka Chapter # 40 of Wayland, Missouri in care of the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison St., Memphis, Missouri 63555.
