Lorie Arnold

December 6, 1963 — December 26, 2022

Lorie Ann (Comstock) Arnold, 59, of Memphis, MO passed away comfortably with friends and family at her side on Monday, December 26, 2022, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.

The daughter of Derwood R. and Alpha Dorene (Jarvis) Comstock, Lorie was born on December 6, 1963 in Bloomfield, Iowa. She was a graduate of Schuyler R-1 High School in 1982. Lorie furthered her education at Truman State University (formerly named Northeast Missouri State University) in 1987 where she received a degree in psychology as well as a minor in sociology. She initially put her education into practice by working with individuals with developmental disabilities at Woodhaven in Columbia, MO. Later, Lorie pursued other career interests, including becoming an area supervisor with Casey’s General Store, and most currently, working as a sales associate with Cook’s Mens Store in Memphis, MO.

Lorie was united in marriage to Robert Arnold on June 1, 1991. They later divorced. To this union, two children, Dylan and Brooklyn, were born.

Lorie's pride and joy were her children, followed by the addition of grandchildren. She enjoyed many things, including spending time with friends and family (especially time spent with them at Scotland Co. Lanes), following and supporting any of her children’s life pursuits, serving as a former Scotland Co. Fair Board member, and being a former service sorority member of Beta Sigma Phi. Lorie will be remembered for her kindness and generous friendship she so easily extended to so many people. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all of those she touched.

Survivors include her children: Dylan Arnold, of Fairfield, IA, and Brooklyn Smith (and husband, Brett), of Laclede, MO; three grandchildren, Dallas Arnold, and Caiden and Azlynn Smith. Additionally, Lorie is survived by a brother, Dick Comstock (and wife, Denise), along with nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many good friends.

Lorie is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, James (Jimmy) Comstock; grandparents, Tillman and Agnes Comstock, and Aubrey and Francis Jarvis.

Memorials in lieu of flowers are suggested to the family to defer funeral expenses and can be left at or mailed to in the care of Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison Street, Memphis, MO 63555.
