Larry Gene Bloomfield, 85, formerly of Memphis, MO, passed away July 21, 2026, in O’Fallon MO.

Born on July 26, 1940, in Clarinda, Iowa, Larry was the son of Glen and Anna Mae Bloomfield. The Bloomfield family relocated to Memphis in 1943, where Larry’s life-long love of farming began. Larry graduated Memphis High School in 1958 and served in the United States Army from 1961-1963 attaining the rank of Specialist 5th Class. While serving he was primarily stationed in Germany, which he greatly enjoyed.

Upon his return stateside he was united in marriage to Lerea (Woods) Bloomfield on June 20, 1965. Larry deemed himself extremely fortunate to be married to a wonderful woman for 61 years. From this union, Larry and Lerea were blessed with two children, Laura Bloomfield and Lisa Walden. Larry’s life was truly fulfilled with the arrival of his grandchildren Elizabeth and Andrew Walden.

Larry was a farmer at heart and enjoyed the lifestyle rural living afforded him and his family. He enjoyed a good card game, a challenging trivial pursuit game and a good book. But most of all he enjoyed every moment he spent with his grandchildren, from playing in mud holes, tractor rides, fishing, and whatever adventures they could find on the farm (no need to tell mom or grandma about many of those adventures)!

Larry is survived by his wife, Lerea Bloomfield, his daughter Lisa Walden, his grandchildren Elizabeth and and Andrew Walden, his sister Christine McReynolds and other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his daughter Laura Bloomfield and by his parents Glen and Anna Mae Bloomfield.

Memorials may be made to Friendship Cemetery, care of Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison St., Memphis MO 63555.
