Ardell Arnold

July 14, 1922 — May 24, 2015

Ardell Arnold, 92 of Memphis, MO, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Sunday afternoon, May 24, 2015, at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis. The daughter of William Basil and Alpha Ketchum Arnold she was born July 14, 1922 in Scotland County, Missouri on a farm southeast of Downing, MO in a community known as Energy where she and her parents ran the Energy store.

She was a cook for many years at the Memphis High School and was always delighted when any of the kids she served remembered her long after she had retired from there. She later worked at the Scotland County Nutrition Center. She was always a good cook, and the angel food cakes “made from scratch” that she had hand beaten were only something she could create along with the homemade noodles were pretty awesome too.

She was a member of the McAdow Church for many years. After moving to Memphis in 1968, she became a member of the Methodist Church where she attended very faithfully until her health failed and even then kept her faith to the end.

Ardell enjoyed making quilts and quilting for others, crocheting, her African Violets and playing cards was the things she enjoyed along with visiting with others. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan all of her life and had an enormous collection of milk glass that was admired by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Surviving are cousins, Bill (Dorothy) Arnold of Kewaune, IL, Paul (Mary Alice) Hale of Memphis, Mary Helen Simpson of Versailles, MO and Shirley (Max) Eggleston of Memphis along with many friends especially her longtime friend, Lela Trueblood and her RCF family since 2014. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
